The agency was founded on January 1st, 1946, by W.E. Burnison, who first set up shop in the Moe Motors building on Main Street in Wolf Point. Hartford Insurance Co. was the only company represented at that time. The growth of the agency continued from that time forward and in 1952, Mr. Burnison built the building that presently houses Cassco Insurance.

In 1970, after many years of service to the community and the surrounding area, Mr. Burnison sold his book of business to N.C. Wolfe of Scobey and Richard P. Carney of Glendive. Since both men owned and operated insurance businesses in their communities, it was necessary for the employment of a manager.
